Annual Scarecrow Contest

Time to put on our thinking caps and enter the Annual Scarecrow Contest! Dream it up, assemble it, and bring it on down to the community garden to hang in the garden! Scarecrows will be judged on the 27th of November. This year we’re giving out trophies! Entry fee of $10 dollars goes towards kids’ programs next summer!

Some suggestions: classic, last year’s costume, a play on words, a familiar community face (got someone you’d like to pay tribute to?), rummage sale model, a knight in shining armor (spray paint old plastic flowerpots with silver and string them together to make the segmented armor), beach bum (make one out of things cleaned off the beach), a gardener.

Get ‘a-head’ - having a hard time figuring out how to make the head?

Some options could be a hollowed-out pumpkin that sits on top of “t” shaped sticks, an old bouy, a recycled jug, a stuffed t shirt gathered into a ball.

Looking for more ideas? Check out some videos on YouTube such as this one (353) How to Make a Scarecrow - Step By Step Craft Project - YouTube

We’ll see you in the garden!

Swap starts at 11 am with a rain date for the following afternoon at 2.
